Britney Serves Mother with letter from Lawyer

Britney’s mom, Lynne Spears, got quite the surprise Thursday when Brit presented her with a letter from a lawyer.

Britney Spears and her mother Lynne won’t be making up any time soon. On Thursday, the paparazzi videotaped Britney delivering her mother a letter from her lawyers, which TMZ claims was a warning to stay away from her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Britney presented Lynne with the letter in Valencia, California where Britney's sister Jamie Lynn was filming. In an ironic twist to the Spears saga, Britney’s letter allegedly asks Lynne to stay away from Sean and Jayden because she in unstable. Britney’s issues with her mother are said to stem from Lynne’s insistence that Britney go to rehab because of her instability.

TMZ reports, “We're told the letter bluntly asks Lynne to stay away from the children if she is taking any medications that would impair her ability to be around them. We're also told Spears has become super-protective of her kids and is taking back a lot of the control that others were exercising over her life.”

Britney's talk about divorce

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline are in for one rocky road to divorce. Us Weekly claims that Kevin is attempting to prove that Britney is unstable so that he can get full custody of their two kids. The National Enquirer reports that Britney, on the other hand, is trying to win Kevin back and won’t grant him a divorce.

Says an insider to Us, “[Kevin] thinks [Britney is] mentally unstable and too young to be a mom…[He] expects full custody of his children one day.” Another pal says that even if he wins full custody, Kevin will still be there for the mother of his children. Says the source, “He loves his kids and, to that extent, he will look after Britney.”
Perhaps Britney has mistaken Kevin’s concern for his children for remnants of feelings for her. She has reportedly been telling friends that she regrets separating from Kevin and even told Kevin himself in a recent phone conversation. The Enquirer claims Britney said to Kevin, “I’m not divorcing you! I want my family back!”

"He was stunned. The call was about custody rights, and though Kevin suspected Britney has been stalling the divorce because of second thoughts, he was shocked when she told him she wanted him back.

"The conversation grew heated and Kevin said he wasn't interested in a reconciliation.

Britney’s declaration came as news to Kevin. He believed she was reconsidering things, causing the proceedings to stall, but he did not expect her to push for a reconciliation and he turned down her offer. In retaliation, Britney threatened to further delay the divorce “until he saw things her way and came back to her,” said the Enquirer’s source.

To help her transformation, Britney Spears's finally decided to hire a stylist, revealing that she's impressed with the way Katie has evolved from schoolgirl-cute to sophisticated mum. And now she wants to do the same, regardless of cost.

"Britney wants to go from trashy to classy," says a source close to the singer, "and she's spending a fortune in the process."

In a massive one-day shopping spree splurge recently, Britney took her cousin Alli Sims and a personal shopper along with her as she shelled out almost $39,000 on designer clothes at upscale Beverly Hills department store Neiman Marcus.

As she was ushered into a private VIP viewing area, Britney, 25, was overheard telling staff she wanted to buy "the kind of stuff Katie Holmes wears".

In her attempt to be just like Katie, Britney Spears focused her attention on elegant, high-end labels such as Armani and Manolo Blahnik.

But after splashing out on her new wardrobe and choosing an array of Katie-inspired items such as fitted jackets, chic silk shirts, fashion shoes and well-cut jumpers in muted tones, Britney's planning to ditch her famously tacky outfits once and for all and emerge as a sophisticated woman.

Britney Spears’ Off The Wagon Warning

It seems that Britney Spears’ latest bar crawl was enough to make her AA leader feel the need to speak out on the matter.

John Sundahl, chairman of Britney’s AA chapter in LA, is quoted as saying: "I told her, 'If you fall off the wagon, I don't think you will live. If you don't want to get sober for yourself, do it for your kids.' "

Sundahl confirmed what was already known… that Britney has partaken in off-the-wagon activity several times since leaving Malibu’s Promises clinic two months ago. The most recent incident happened to be a sighting of the fallen pop princess knocking back a few cocktails at trendy Hollywood hotspot Lola’s last Friday (June 15).

Offering words of encouragement, Sundahl insisted that Brit is now determined to get sober.

He stated: "She truly wants to stop what she's doing. She's changed her life in another direction, where she doesn't get drunk every night and pass out."

So far, that other direction happens to be purchasing a parakeet and spending time with her cousin Allie. Most recently, Britney was spotted shopping at Babies R’ Us and getting a beverage at Starbucks, where she is said to have thrown a little tantrum before continuing about her business.

Britney Spears Enlists In Lauper's "True Colors"

Despite the fact that the release of her new album has been delayed until 2008, Britney Spears has made fans happy by announcing that she'll be appearing in concert with pop singer/gay rights activist Cyndi Lauper.

In the 'True Colors' show to be held at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre on June 30, the 'Lucky' songstress will be teaming up with Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls, The MisShapes with special guest Jeffree Star and host Margaret Cho.

Britney Spears' album delay until 2008

According to Britney's rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, the release of her new album has been delayed until sometime in 2008, reports Life & Style

"I put her on hiatus," Zelnik says. "Brit's album is pushed until '08. If she has no album, there's no reason to do anything. I'm representing her in theory right now. I said that since the album is pushed back until '08, let's go on hiatus until we have a campaign to do."

According to a music insider the recently rehabbed pop star is creatively challenged.

"I'm surprised the album wasn't pushed back to '09 — everything's up in the air with the album right now," the insider says.

"Jive [Records, Brit's label] hated the songs Britney was coming up with, except for a few. The executives are not happy. And she didn't want to listen to anyone. Everything was a problem for her. They wanted her to work with certain people, and she wanted the opposite."

Britney and K-Fed getting back together ?

Britney Spears has sparked rumors that she and Kevin Federline might be getting back together.

The singer is said to be desperate to get the couple’s relationship another go for the sake of their two young sons – Sean Preston and Jayden James. A pal revealed that the couple are now talking things through and that Britney has spent two nights in the past week with him.

"Britney does not want two divorces behind her at her age. She and Kevin are talking things through and hope they can work it out and be a proper family again," the News of the World quoted the pal, as saying.

Britney married K-Fed back in 2004, but fans, friends and family never took a shine to him, calling him a gold-digger.

Two years, two months and two kids later, Britney split from her husband. The split however, cost her dear, for she had a break-down and after bouts of boozing and pantyless partying was forced into rehab by Federline, who threatened to take away the kids unless she got help.

The insider revealed that another reason why Britney is determined to give their marriage another go, is because she realizes that she ‘needs Kevin to keep her strong’.

"Britney has finally realized she needs Kevin to keep her strong. Since they split, her life has been in freefall and she knows it's just not fair on the kids. They need their dad and Britney is determined to be a good mother," the source said.

Bald Britney Spears Billboards Taken Down

Clear Channel takes down billboards featuring a bald and sneering Britney Spears after the singer’s lawyer threatened to sue, reports CBS.

In a letter to Clear Channel Spears' lawyer, Linda Goldman accused the company of "offensive, unauthorized commercial exploitation" of the 25-year-old singer, and demanded that the three billboards in the Tampa area be removed. The letter was posted on The Smoking Gun Web site.

"We have confirmed that the billboards are down," Clear Channel spokeswoman Michele Clarke said Tuesday.

The three billboards were put up by The Clear Channel owned MJ Morning radio show in Florida and features Spears snarling with a freshly shaved head on one corner and a picture of WFLZ morning show host Todd Schnitt (who uses the air name MJ Kelli) on the other. The 3 billboards vary between them the words: "Total Nut Jobs," "Shock Therapy," and "Certifiable."

Clear Channel has removed the billboards, and I'm not happy with that," Schnitt told the St. Petersburg Times.

Britney Spears to sue over 'outrageous' billboard ads

Britney Spears is reportedly threatening to sue a Florida radio station that used her image in a series of billboard ads with the taglines: "Total Nut Jobs", "Shock Therapy," and "Certifiable".

A Clear Channel Communications station, WFLZ 93.3, used a picture of Britney from a series showing her attacking a car belonging to a paparazzi photographer, shortly after she shaved her head in February.

According to thesmokinggun.com, Britney's legal team deemed the billboards "outrageous and extreme" and previously ordered them to be taken down but as the station didn’t comply, they are now being threatened with legal action.

The legal team believe the singer will be entitled to "very substantial damages".

Britney Spears in cahoots with paparazzi for pictures?

Rumours that Britney Spears is earning money from paparazzi pictures of her have been fueled after the star apparently went out of her way to get her picture taken on Friday afternoon.

A source told WENN that Britney deliberately drove to the Casa Del Mar hotel in Santa Monica on Friday to steal the photographers’ attention away from Mandy Moore who was conducting press interviews inside.

The onlooker reports: “It seemed obvious that Britney wanted to get noticed and photographed - why else would you show up at one of California’s paparazzi hang-outs? She drove really slowly and doubled back on herself to make sure that everyone who wanted to get a shot, got a shot.”

The "Toxic" singer has finally got back in shape following the birth of her second son, Jayden James, and is so proud of her figure she wants it "immortalized" in a painting.

A source told Britain's More magazine: "Britney's been getting in better and better shape since she split with Kevin and wants her body immortalised in a portrait. She loves the film "Titanic", especially the scene where Kate Winslet's character Rose gets painted in the nude. She wants it tastefully done, though, and is looking for the right artist to do it."

Doesnt she know that shes not Kate Winslet and Leo is not going to draw her. At new years eve shes still looks fat still and like she has to lose alot of weight. So her being naked might be a scary sight. Maybe in another month or two!

In January 2007, Spears lost her aunt "Sandra Bridges Covington", with whom she was very close, after a long battle with breast cancer. On February 16, 2007, Spears entered an off-shore drug rehabilitation facility in Antigua. She stayed, however, for less than twenty-four hours. The following night, Spears went to a haircutting studio in Tarzana, California and subsequently shaved her own hair off with clippers.

A few days later, on February 20, 2007, Spears admitted herself to a treatment facility in Malibu, California. A statement by her manager read, "We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."

She left the facility briefly but returned on February 22, 2007. The previous day Kevin Federline had requested an emergency hearing regarding the custody of his children with Spears but his attorney announced that his client asked to cancel the court appearance. No further explanation was given. Spears left rehab on March 20 according to her manager who said she was released after "successfully completing their program".

Spears has been recording a new album with producers Sean Garrett and Jonathan Rotem among others. MTV has recently announced that Jive has confirmed that the first single from the upcoming album will be released in September.

During May 2007, Spears produced a mini-tour for the House of Blues which included 4 live performances across California locations, San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles, and one in Las Vegas. Those in attendance reported that she did not actually perform the songs live in the 15 minute show, but danced and lip-synched to recorded accompaniment of 5 previous hit songs. On May 19, Britney performed the House of Blues concert in Orlando, Florida as part of her "comeback plan" under the name of The M and M's. Even though she suffered brief audio problems while performing Do Somethin', where her vocals began skipping, Spears went on with the show as planned. On May 20, Spears did another show in Miami at club Mansion.

The First Husband

Pop star Britney Spears married a childhood friend from Louisiana in an early morning ceremony, but quickly arranged to have it annulled.

George Maloof Jr., owner and operator of the Palms Casino Hotel, confirmed that the 22-year-old Spears married Jason Allen Alexander of Kentwood, Louisiana, about 5:30 a.m. Jan-3-2004 at a Las Vegas wedding chapel.

"Nobody knew it was coming," said Maloof, Spears' good friend. The two arranged an annulment Saturday afternoon in the presence of several people, including a Las Vegas lawyer, said a source close to Spears who spoke on condition of anonymity. The signed annulment will be filed when the courts open Monday morning, the source said.

Calls to Spears' representatives were not immediately returned.

Spears and Alexander journeyed by limousine to the Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip after a stop at the Ghostbar, a club in the Palms Casino Hotel. The chapel staff told the couple they couldn't get married without a license, so they were taken to get a license and driven back to the chapel, where they were married.

The bride wore a baseball cap and torn jeans down the aisle and was escorted by a Palms limousine driver, the source told the AP.

Maloof denied rumors that Spears was drunk and had to be carried out of the Rain nightclub inside the Palms on New Year's Eve.

"I was with her the whole night," he said. "None of those reports were accurate. She was just having a good time."

Spears was still staying at the Palms and was expected to leave Sunday. Employees at the chapel declined comment.

Alexander was back in his hometown Sunday, according to his grandfather, Robert Alexander.

Britney Spears, 22, walked down the aisle in blue jeans and a baseball cap, according to People.com.
"He'd been through a lot. We picked him up in New Orleans coming back and he didn't have much to say," the elder Alexander told Entertainment Tonight.

"I wish them well," he said. "Whatever happens, happens."

He said Spears and Alexander had also spent Christmas Eve together.

Calls to Alexander's family home in Kentwood, La. were answered by a machine. His grandmother said any details about the wedding would have to come from Jason or his father.

"We know about the wedding and stuff. It's all over the news," Betty Alexander said.

November 2003 saw the release of Spears's fourth studio album, In the Zone. Jettisoning the Max Martin-produced synthpop of her earlier releases, the album took in lesser-known producers such as RedZone and big names including Moby and R. Kelly. Spears co-wrote eight of the album's thirteen songs and co-produced some of her material for the first time. In the Zone went to the top of the U.S. charts in its debut week, selling over 609,000 copies. This made Spears the only female in music history to have her first four studio albums debut at number one. The album had a mild reception from critics. Stylus Magazine gave the album a D and even blamed her career choices saying, "Ultimately, In the Zone suffers greatly from Britney's uneasy transition from teen tart to sexually powerful woman.

Had Britney been in charge of her career direction instead of mercilessly prostituted by her management, she might have been able to produce something with some semblance of musical vision." The Guardian praised the albums melodies and her effort giving it 4 out of 5 stars and writing, "Unlike previous Britney albums, In the Zone has no filler and no shoddy cover versions, just 57 varieties of blue-chip hit-factory pop. There is southern hip-hop, deep house, Neptunes-style R&B, the ubiquitous Diwali beat and, most importantly, oodles of Madonna."
The album spawned the international number one and U.S. top ten hit single, "Toxic", which won Spears her first Grammy in the category of Best Dance Recording.

Kiss me baby

With the end of the tour, Spears announced she would take a 6 month break from her career. Earlier that year Spears's four-year relationship with Justin Timberlake ended. Speculation that Spears had been unfaithful began circulating due to Timberlake's 2002 song "Cry Me a River" and its subsequent music video.

The song's music video showed an actress playing what could be construed as a Britney look-alike with certain physical features resembling Spears. Timberlake has denied that it was meant to portray Britney. Britney's break seemed to have ended when she returned to the spotlight in August 2003.

In a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, Spears appeared with Christina Aguilera performing the song "Like a Virgin" and both girls were later joined by Madonna. Spears and Aguilera each locked lips with Madonna in a highly-publicized kiss.

2001–2003: Career achievements

Spears's success had made her notable in the music industry as well as popular culture. In early 2001 she caught the attention of Pepsi who gave Spears a multi-million dollar promotional deal which included numerous television commercials, point-of-purchase promotions and Internet ties between Spears and the company.

Spears released her third studio album in November 2001. Britney was the first album on which Spears assumed some creative control co-writing five of the album's tracks. It had a successful debut at number one in the U.S. selling 745,744 units during its first week, and making her the only female artist in SoundScan history to have her first three albums debut at number one.

The album fared well with critics such as All Music Guide who gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars describing the album's title tracks as being "pivotal moments on Britney Spears' third album, the record where she strives to deepen her persona, making it more adult while still recognizably Britney." In contrast Rolling Stone said of the album "Britney belabors the obvious: Spears is one month away from entering her twenties and clearly needs to grow up if she's going to bring her fans along."

The singles didn't perform as well; Britney's lead single I'm a Slave 4 U was able to peak at 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 making it the album's biggest hit. To help promote the album, Spears embarked on the Dream Within a Dream Tour in November of 2001. The tour hit a sour note in Mexico City when she was forced to cut her last show short due to bad weather and upsetting her audience.
